Gross Motor Activities In the Fall

It’s the perfect time to get outside and engage in some fall gross motor exercises as the days become shorter and the temperature drops. These are the ideal games to do with your kids to keep them moving and help them burn off some energy. Try out some of these fall activities:

  • Colored Leaf Hunt: Try taking a walk outdoors and hunt for different colored leaves – squatting down to pick them up. Once you have found several leaves, have the child throw the leaves up in the air and try to catch some.
  • Raking: Raking is a fantastic gross motor activity for youngsters as well as a nice task! Children must engage their entire body as well as many different skills, including coordination, motor planning, core strengthening, and more! Using a child-sized rake, have the child rake a small pile of leaves. Practice jumping in the leaves. Practice jumping forwards, backward and sideways over the pile of leaves.
  • Apple Picking: Picking apples is a great gross motor activity – children are reaching up high, squatting down low, and walking all around looking for the perfect apples
