Road Trip Activities

The Holiday’s are fast approaching and with that can come hours and hours of travel with your family. Every parent knows that when traveling with children the inevitable “are we there yet” happens as soon as boredoms sets in (which happens sooner rather than later).

Hopefully, with some of the following tips and activities we can try to prolong the inevitable and save your sanity as long as possible.

-Bring along some of your children’s favorite books-have them, read aloud, identify what they are seeing in the pictures or play “I spy”.

-Or play audio books; you can find some on YouTube, Spotify (with premium) or you can use your local library’s app /website to access audio books, ebooks, movies, music and more!

-Remember Mad Libs?, yeah, your remember Mad Libs. Whether you choose to follow the instructions and pick out appropriate verbs, adjectives, etc or not Mad Libs can provide for some interesting stories

-Bring along a drawing pad or coloring book

-Play “Would You Rather” or “20 Questions”

– You could take turns making up  a silly story or a silly song

-Play road trip bingo print out an activity sheet with various road signs signs, vehicles, and notable stops (gas stations, restaurants, weigh stations etc.)

-Bring along a camera for your kids to take pictures, even better-make it a polaroid or another instant print camera

-Dollar stores are a good place to stock up on easy activity books, fidget toys, flash cards, coloring books, stickers, crayons/markers and more

-If time allows, pre-plan playground stops-if your kids are tired they’re less likely to be bored

-And of course let’s not forget snacks-all the snacks!

So, to those parents who are planning on traveling this Holiday season, I salute you.  I wish you the best of luck and hope that this list of activities can be of help to you❣️
